June 4th the old 19th Hole was laid to rest.
In 2005 the decision was made by the DPOA Board to sell the old country club, and build a new facility more centrally located within Diamondhead. Open bids were accepted and the facility was finally sold in 2007 to Cooper Creek Development. That fine old building is now Pinnacle Shores upscale condominiums, creating 9 new dues paying members.
Through frugal spending, strict budgeting and the diligence of the board, Raymond Massey, current president, has led the way to getting that 4 year old goal into action.
Vowing to keep the building within budget, Massey and the Board broke ground for the new facility, on June 11th. The contractor has promised we will have the 2010 New Year’s Party in our new club. WELL DONE!
Diamondhead is so convenient to everything. It's only a few minutes to work and yet, when I get home, I feel like I'm in a different world. I can be golfing or on the lake in 2 minutes. And best of all, you don't have to be wealthy to live here. It's truly affordable...even for a teacher.
